Abstract

The health care system, with the help of new forms of management, has finally paved the way towards the digital era. Nevertheless, the benefits associated with artificialization are accompanied by the serious risk of intrusion into private lives. Therefore, in order to avoid the incorrect and unlawful dissemination of data in such a delicate area, the identification of regulatory instruments that guarantee the right to privacy without obstructing technical and scientific progress becomes paramount. In this regard, this paper will further explore the evolution of the concept of privacy, and will try to identify the gaps in the current Italian legislation on the protection and safeguarding of personal data, in order to prepare a proper and appropriate regulatory strategy in line with European standards.
