The Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), conceived by the Belgian Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine at the end of the XIX century, was at the center of the interest of Maria Pia Carosella’s professional life. She brought forward the translation of the terminology until the publication of the Italian translation known as Classificazione Decimale Universale. The complete edition, 1973-85 and the abridged italian edition, 1987 were published by CNR-ISRDS. In her memory, some thoughts and insights are reported here to share how she transmitted key contents from this intense and successful experience into innovative working models for young researchers in scientific contexts. Among these contents, sharing of opinions, friendly conversations, curiosity driven engagement, trust building, knowledge sharing with external experts, understanding universal values of International Associations together with a strong belief in international cooperation and international programs represent her contributions and lifelong enablers to success: a great and valuable legacy
