Abstract

During the entire period of the Italian racial laws and the German occupation of Rome, Angelo De Fiore, head of the Office for Foreigners at the Police Headquarters, made every effort to mitigate the effects of those legal provisions. Very often the method used was the rearrangement of the archives so as the documents could not be found, or rather, the false documents and permits could not be asseverated. After the war, he was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations by the State of Israel for his endeavor.
