Management and storage of e-mail messages

Abstract

The management and preservation of ordinary email messages is dealt with in different ways in various regulatory and national contexts. This is so despite the fact that, from a functional point of view, they replace ordinary correspondence and preparatory writings and are, therefore, documentally relevant. The public–private admixture that comes from the mixed-use of email addresses often complicates a landscape which has not yet been fully outlined.
